Use these numbers in my brief

The builder starts with your entered assumptions.

Compare like for like

The commission is only part of the decision.

Start with a recent statement. Separate the fees paid to the marketplace from costs you would still incur on a direct order. Use comparable pickup or delivery orders, the same sales basis, and the same period.

Then include the work the marketplace currently does for you: finding guests, taking payments, and arranging delivery. A direct channel may be worthwhile, but a fee difference only becomes a business improvement if the orders arrive and the full costs make sense. FAQ

Understand your result.

Which marketplace fee should I enter?
Use the effective fee from your own statements for the orders you are comparing. Include commission, delivery, processing, and promotion charges where they apply, without counting a charge twice. Your contract, region, fulfillment method, and plan determine the rate.
How is the difference calculated?
Monthly marketplace cost is orders × average order value × marketplace fee percentage. Direct cost is sales × processing percentage, plus the fixed fee per order and other monthly costs. The calculator subtracts direct costs from marketplace costs and multiplies by 12.
Does direct ordering always cost less?
No. A website, ordering subscription, advertising, payment fees, and delivery can outweigh the commission avoided. Add the costs that differ between the channels. A negative result means direct ordering costs more under your assumptions.
Will all my marketplace customers order directly?
This calculation does not predict customer behavior. It compares the same order volume and value on both channels. Test a realistic volume of direct orders and account for what it takes to acquire and fulfill them. See the online ordering guide.
Can I build from this calculation?
