Win-back campaign

A win-back campaign is automated email or SMS outreach that re-engages guests who have stopped coming, before they are lost for good.

A win-back campaign fires when a guest crosses a lapse threshold, for example no visit in 60 or 90 days. It sends a timely, personal message, often with an incentive, to pull them back before the habit breaks entirely. It attacks Churn head-on and lifts Retention rate, and it works on a warm audience: these are people who already chose you once.

For a restaurant the math is favorable, because re-engaging a known guest costs far less than acquiring a stranger, and a good nudge lands: 74% return after a unique experience. The prerequisite is simply knowing who lapsed, which requires First-party data and the guest's Opt-in, not the anonymized record a delivery marketplace hands back.

This is a natural automation. Tools (Klaviyo, Marsello, Thanx, Ovation) watch order and visit recency and trigger the win-back on their own, with segmentation so a lapsed regular and a one-time visitor get different offers. See email and SMS marketing and loyalty and retention.
